#119. The Invisible Hand

In modern society we all seem to chase money, its seen as the most important aspect of life, it controls us, how we act, our decisions and actions, subconsciously it controls all of our lives. For me this is something I have been lucky enough to avoid, I don’t chase money, I let what makes me happy decide where my life goes. Money can make people do things they don’t want to, live a life they don’t want and in return be promised this utopia at the end of a tunnel that always stays out of reach.

I see too many people dedicate their life to the pursuit of money because they think it will bring them happiness and joy. Think about everything you have missed out on due to chasing money, all the special moments, the big events and the times you could have spent with those you care about. Think of all the compromises you have made to make a little extra money, was it worth it?

“Chase the vision, not the money. The money will end up following you.”
– Tony Hsieh

Don’t let the pursuit of money control your life, let happiness be the decider when you have the choice. If you live a life doing what you love the money won’t matter, you will be happy with or without it. Would you rather live a long life being unhappy or a short life doing what you love?
Chose to do what you love and your life will work out for the best. Do what you enjoy, chase happiness, spend more time with people you love, don’t let the pursuit of money decide your fate.
